In response to the second Congressional attempt to censor the Internet, a federal court in Philadelphia has granted a preliminary injunction blocking enforcement of the Child Online Protection Act until the court makes a final decision on the Act's constitutionality in ACLU v. Reno II. Read the Decision. CDT was part of a broad group, representing publishers, Internet service providers, journalists, and the technology industry, that signed an amicus brief in support of the ACLU's challenge. The brief argues that less restrictive alternatives do a far better job of protecting children in a global medium than any U.S. law ever could.
