Nancy Libin joined the Center for Democracy and Technology as Staff Counsel in February 2005. Ms. Libin's work at CDT focuses on national security, government surveillance, and Fourth Amendment issues.
Before joining CDT, Ms. Libin was Deputy Director of Delegate Strategy and Chief of Staff of the Political Department on the Kerry-Edwards campaign. Prior to that, Ms. Libin was an Associate General Counsel at NASD, the organization that regulates the securities industry and the NASDAQ Stock Market. She advised securities firms on compliance with the Executive Order relating to terrorist financing, the Bank Secrecy Act, and the anti-money laundering regulations under PATRIOT Act. She also developed investor protection policies and rules governing the use of electronic trading and other Internet technologies by the securities industry. Ms. Libin practiced law at Howrey & Simon in Washington, DC before joining NASD.
Ms. Libin received her B.A., cum laude, from Harvard University and her J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center.
