CDT LAUNCHES INTERNET PRIVACY SURVEY IN PREPARATION FOR FTC HEARINGS

Are you concerned about your privacy online?

The Center for Democracy and Technology today launched a survey to gather
information about Internet users' views on online privacy and the methods
they use (if any) to protect their privacy on the Net. The results will be
announced at the June Federal Trade Commission Workshop on online privacy
issues.

Please take a few moments to fill out the simple web based survey by visiting:

                    http://www.cdt.org/privacy/survey

All submissions will be anonymous unless you specify otherwise CDT will
compile the survey responses and submit overall findings to the FTC.

BACKGROUND

On June 10 - 13, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) will hold its second
public workshop on online privacy. The workshop is designed to explore
consumer privacy issues on the Internet, as well as to gather information
for a study on "look-up-services" in the wake of public concern over the
Lexis-Nexis P-Track service.

CDT submitted comments and has requested to participate in each of the
FTC's workshops.

In preparation for the FTC hearings, CDT is asking Internet users to
participate in an online survey on Internet-related privacy issues. The
results will be submitted to the FTC in June.

For more information on the FTC hearings, the text of CDT's comments and
information on the Internet Privacy Working Group, visit CDT's privacy
issues page at http://www.cdt.org/privacy/
