CDT Urges Court to Hear Warrantless Wiretap Case - The Center for Democracy and Technology (CDT) has signed a friend-of-the-court brief urging the federal appeals court in California to allow a case to go forward on alleged illegal wiretapping activities. The case, brought by the Electronic Frontier Foundation, alleges that AT&T, at a major switching facility in San Francisco, assisted the government in carrying out warrantless interceptions of the communications of citizens. The brief, written by Stanford law professor Kathleen Sullivan, argues that the individual plaintiffs have standing to seek redress for privacy violations. The lower court rejected efforts by the government and AT&T to dismiss the case on procedural grounds. May 03, 2007
