CDT Opposes Involving ICANN in "Spamhaus" Case - A case filed by an Illinois-based e-mail marketing company -- e360 Insight, LLC -- against London-based anti-spam group Spamhaus, took an unfortunate turn earlier this month, when e360 Insight asked that the court force the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) to suspend Spamhaus's domain name. ICANN, which oversees the Internet's global addressing system, was not a party to the case and does not manage individual Web addresses. Under no circumstances should ICANN be involved in these sorts of disputes, CDT said in a statement issued today. October 12, 2006
