Congress Extends PATRIOT Act For Another Five Weeks - Having failed to reach a deal on PATRIOT Act reform in January, the House and Senate voted to extend the sixteen expiring provisions of the Act for another five weeks, giving civil liberties advocates an additional opportunity to push for reforms. CDT has repeatedly called on Congress to include the common sense privacy and civil liberties protections passed unanimously by the Senate in the final version of the PATRIOT Act extension.
