CDT Joins Criticism of Defense Department Recruitment Database - CDT joined more than 100 other groups in urging the Defense Department to end to the "Joint Advertising and Market Research Studies" recruiting database, which would compile the personal data of 30 million U.S. residents from 16 to 25 years of age for purposes of military recruitment. CDT signed a letter drafted by the Electronic Privacy information Center that notes multiple Privacy Act violations associated with the compilation and disclosure of information about high school and college students by the government.
