CDT Calls on DHS to Create New Safeguards on Personal Information - In recommendations to the Data Privacy and Integrity Advisory Committee of the Department of Homeland Security, CDT urged the Committee to ask Congress to amend the Privacy Act to make it clear that it applies to government use of commercial data. In addition, until Congress acts, CDT urged the Committee to recommend that DHS apply core Privacy Act principles as a matter of policy and contract when it accesses or uses personally identifiable information from commercial sources.
