Three Major Parties in Domain Names Debate Approach Resolution - he Department of Commerce, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and Network Solutions Inc. (NSI) signed a series of agreements on registration and licensing procedures on September 28th. Under the agreements, NSI accepts ICANN's authority, and agrees to pay $1.2 million. NSI continues as registry of the .com domains, and agrees to make the Whois database publicly available. Under ICANN procedures, the agreements are now subject to a 30 day public comment period, with final consideration scheduled for the next ICANN board meeting on November 4, 1999. September 28, 1999
