International Study Calls for Participation, Representation in Online Management Body - A global group of researchers known as the NGO and Academic ICANN Study (NAIS) has released a report calling for reforms to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the organization that oversees important Internet functions such as domain names and network addressing. The NAIS report urges ICANN to create new institutions to include the public voice in its activities, or risk losing the legitimacy it needs to appropriately manage critical online resources. NAIS calls on ICANN to create a broad, open membership to promote and develop the public interest, and to do so as quickly as possible. August 31, 2001
