Public Interest Groups Decry .us "Sell-Off" - On April 29, CDT, Common Cause, and the Media Access Project wrote to members of Congress expressing serious concerns about the .us Internet domain. Last week NeuStar, the company chosen to operate .us, began selling names in .us without public consultation about important ground rules for how to proceed. As a result, thousands of valuable names like churches.us or art.us are now owned by private speculators, while thousands of others have been arbitrarily reserved for undisclosed purposes.
