CDT Releases In-Depth Analysis of FCC Broadcast Flag Ruling - CDT has issued an updated report examining the FCC's recent broadcast flag regulation, an attempt to address online piracy of broadcast digital television by mandating that content protections be built in to certain consumer electronics and computers. CDT's report analyzes the improvements to earlier proposals that were incorporated into the FCC's ruling as well as the concerns that still remain regarding the flag's impacts on consumers and the precedent the flag ruling sets for government regulation of computing architecture. CDT expects that the broadcast flag will continue to be a major policy debate before the FCC, the courts, and Congress in the months ahead. December 16, 2003
