State Government Group Rejects Pennsylvania Web Blocking Law - At meetings held May 15-18, the Council of State Governments rejected a proposal to include the Pennsylvania Web Blocking Law in its annual handbook of model stat laws. CDT had submitted extensive written comments arguing that the Pennsylvania law, while pursuing the laudable goal of stopping child pornography, raises serious free speech, due process, and technical concerns. The Pennsylvania law leads to the blocking of many innocent sites, suppressing legal speech while failing to actually stop child pornography. May 22, 2003
