Industry Forces File Brief in Important Speech Case - Major business organizations and Internet industry associations last week filed a friend-of-the-court brief in Yahoo! Inc. v. LICRA, supporting Yahoo's legal challenge to a French court ruling that raises fundamental issues of jurisdiction in cyberspace. The brief argues that US courts may not enforce judgments of foreign courts that lack personal jurisdiction over US defendants, and that to hold otherwise would have devastating consequences for the development of the Internet. The next hearing in this case is scheduled for August 26. August 13, 2001
