House Wiretap Reform Bill Would Improve Civil Liberties Protections - The House of Representatives votes today on the RESTORE Act, a bill that would repeal legislation adopted last August that gave the President a blank check to carry out warrantless surveillance. The RESTORE Act would give the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court authority to oversee any surveillance affecting the rights of Americans, even when that surveillance is directed at persons overseas. CDT supports the RESTORE Act as a significant improvement over current law. October 17, 2007
