Welcome!

You can register today. Space will also be available for Walk-ins on Wednesday.

Democracy Day is a full day student leadership conference that brings together distinguished leaders from politics, the business community, the media, and academia with students from dozens of American colleges and universities, many of whom serve as Student Body Presidents, Editors of their school newspaper, and members of their Student Government or campus political organizations.

Democracy Day 2003 will be held at George Washington University, September 17, 2003, in the Dororthy Betts Theatre at GW's Marvin Center, 800 21st Street, NW. Washington DC.

Democracy Day is a day designed to educate, to excite and to inspire these young American leaders. It is also a day where young American leaders can provide their own input about the best ways their generation can become politically empowered.

In years to come, we hope that Democracy Day will be celebrated at many colleges and universities on September 17th - the anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution.

Democracy Day 2003 represents a joint effort of "Youth04" and the Institute for Politics, Democracy and the Internet. Youth04 is a project of the Center for Democracy and Technology (CDT) in Washington, D.C. and the Center for Communication and Civic Engagement (CCCE) at the University of Washington in Seattle. The Institute for Politics, Democracy and the Internet (IPDI) is a part of GW's Graduate School of Political Management.

On behalf of the President of CDT, Jerry Berman, the Director of CCCE, Lance Bennett, and GSPM Dean Chris Arterton and IPDI Director, Carol Darr, I welcome you to the Democracy Day website, and I invite you to join us on September 17, 2003 for a day of learning, a day of communicating, and a day of patriotism.
